Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cookie Dough Layer:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Prepare the Brownie Layer:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.

      - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.

        - Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

          - Pour the brownie mix into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

            Prepare the Cookie Dough Layer:

              - In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

                - Beat in the egg and vanilla until well blended.

                  - In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

                    Layer the Cookie Dough:

                      - Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer. Use a spatula or your hands to spread the cookie dough over the entire surface (it's okay if some brownie layer shows through).

                        Bake:

                          - Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly clean (a few moist crumbs are fine).

                            - Let cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

                              Serve:

                                - Enjoy your fudgy chewy browkies warm or at room temperature, and pair with a glass of milk or scoop of ice cream for an indulgent treat!
