8 oz chow mein noodles

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup sliced cabbage

1 cup shredded carrots

1/2 cup sliced bell peppers (red and yellow)

1/2 cup bean sprouts

3 green onions, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for depth)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Noodles: In a large pot of boiling water, cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Heat the Wok: In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the hot oil and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add Vegetables: Toss in the sliced cabbage, shredded carrots, and sliced bell peppers. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Add Noodles: Stir in the cooked chow mein noodles, followed by the bean sprouts and chopped green onions. Mix well to combine.

Season the Chow Mein: Pour the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the noodle mixture. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.

Finish with Flavor: Drizzle the sesame oil over the chow mein and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and additional green onions if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade chow mein!
