Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into diagonal coins

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bananas: In a medium bowl, gently toss the sliced bananas with lemon juice to prevent browning and add a hint of tartness.

Make the Cinnamon Sugar Mix: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside.

Heat the Butter: In a non-stick frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to bubble.

Add Bananas: Carefully add the banana slices to the pan in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan, as this will steam the bananas instead of frying them.

Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar: After about 1 minute, sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the bananas. Allow the bananas to cook for another 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown, then gently flip them over.

Finish Cooking: Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar on the flipped bananas and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until both sides are caramelized and fragrant. Drizzle the vanilla extract over the bananas as they finish cooking.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the pan-fried bananas to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired, and enjoy warm!
