Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread, sliced into thick pieces

4 large eggs

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Fresh berries for garnish (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Arrange the slices of brioche bread in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, overlapping slightly if necessary.

Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Gently press down with a spatula to submerge any bread that floats.

Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4-6 hours).

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Remove the dish from the refrigerator and remove the plastic wrap. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the soaked bread.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown and bubbly.

For a perfectly caramelized top, use a kitchen torch to melt and caramelize the brown sugar, or place the dish under the broiler for 2-3 minutes—watch closely to avoid burning.

Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh berries and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
