Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

2 cups whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for richness)

Additional nutmeg for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place your pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges if desired.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until well combined and slightly frothy.

Gradually add the whole milk, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt to the egg mixture while continuing to whisk until smooth.

If you would like a richer custard, stir in the heavy cream at this point.

Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust, being careful not to overfill and spill.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out clean. Consider checking at the 40-minute mark to avoid overcooking.

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.

Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. This allows the custard to firm up properly.

Before serving, dust the top with additional nutmeg if desired.
