Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chili paste)

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated ginger

2 green onions, sliced

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Optional toppings: sesame seeds, sliced cucumbers, or a fried egg

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Start by gathering all your ingredients. Mince the garlic, chop the onion, and slice the green onions. Cook the jasmine rice according to package instructions if you don’t have any ready.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Add the Ground Beef: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Season the Meat: Reduce the heat to medium, and stir in soy sauce, gochujang, brown sugar, sesame oil, and grated ginger. Mix well and let it cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Finish with Green Onions: Stir in the sliced green onions, reserving a few for garnish. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Bowls: In serving bowls, place a generous amount of cooked jasmine rice. Top with the spicy ground beef mixture.

Add Toppings: Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top and add sliced cucumbers or a fried egg for extra flavor and texture.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot and enjoy this flavor-packed Korean ground beef bowl!
