Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup powdered milk (non-fat or whole)

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional for extra richness)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla powder or 2 tablespoons vanilla extract (if making in small batches)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, powdered milk, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

If using, add in the semisweet chocolate chips. You can pulse these in a food processor to break them into smaller pieces if desired.

If using vanilla powder, add it to the mix. If using vanilla extract, keep this separate for when you prepare your hot chocolate.

Store the mix in an airtight container or jar. Label and date the container for freshness.

To prepare hot chocolate, mix 1/4 cup of the hot chocolate mix with 1 cup of hot water or milk. Stir until fully combined, and if you used vanilla extract, add it now.

Enjoy your homemade hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream, or a dusting of cocoa powder on top!
