Ingredients

8 Hawaiian sweet rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for the pan)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Fresh fruit (like strawberries or pineapple, for topping)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

Prep the Rolls: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half to create mini sandwich-like shapes and set aside.

Mix the Batter: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar until well combined.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or griddle, melt the butter over medium heat until bubbly and slightly browned.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each roll half into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for about 15–20 seconds on each side, ensuring they absorb enough batter without becoming too soggy.

Cook the Rolls: Place the soaked rolls into the hot pan (do this in batches if necessary) and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.

Serve: Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar, and top with fresh fruit. Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
