Ingredients

8 oz spaghetti or fettuccine

4 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest and set aside.

Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes, being careful not to brown it.

Make Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir to combine and let it heat up gently for about a minute.

Add Cheese: Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is achieved.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Toss the drained pasta into the skillet with the sauce, adding salt, pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon zest. Combine thoroughly to coat the pasta.

Garnish: Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley for freshness. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve: Plate the pasta, finishing with extra Parmesan cheese and parsley on top, if desired. Enjoy your creamy, garlicky delight!
