Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (Brioche or Challah work great)

3 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

A pinch of salt

Fresh berries (for garnish, optional)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.

Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt, swirling to coat the bottom.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side to absorb the liquid.

Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until golden and cooked through.

Remove the French toast from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the brown sugar and the remaining tablespoon of butter. Stir until melted and bubbly.

Quickly return the French toast to the skillet, one slice at a time, making sure to coat each side in the caramelized mixture for about 30 seconds.

Serve immediately, topped with fresh berries and a drizzle of maple syrup.
