Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

1/2 cup cold water

1/4 tsp turmeric powder (for color)

For the Filling:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/4 tsp dried thyme)

1/2 tsp allspice

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup beef broth

1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and turmeric. Add the cubed butter and mix with your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

      - Gradually add cold water, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Do not overwork it. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

        Make the Filling:

          - In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic; sauté until translucent.

            - Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned.

              - Stir in thyme, allspice, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and mix in green onions. Let it cool.

                Assemble the Patties:

                  - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

                    - On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (about 5-6 inches in diameter).

                      - Place a tablespoon of the cooled filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.

                        Bake the Patties:

                          - Place the filled patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If desired, brush the tops with an egg wash (1 beaten egg) for a shiny finish.

                            - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

                              Serve:

                                - Allow the patties to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as an appetizer or a snack!
