Ingredients

2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon almond extract

Assorted colored sprinkles or icing for decoration

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Add Egg and Extracts: Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until fully combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Chill the Dough: Divide the dough into two equal portions, flatten each into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out one disk of dough to about ¼ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.

Bake Cookies: Place cookie shapes onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Decorate: Once cooled, decorate your cookies with icing or sprinkles as desired.
