Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup biscuit mix (or pizza dough)

1/2 cup diced onions

1/2 cup diced pickles

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Ketchup and mustard for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Mix-Ins: Stir in the diced onions and pickles, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent. Turn off the heat and mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Let this mixture cool slightly.

Prepare the Dough: If using biscuit mix, prepare according to package instructions. If using pizza dough, roll it out on a floured surface until it is about 1/4 inch thick.

Fill the Pockets: Cut the dough into squares (about 4x4 inches). Place a generous spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each square. Fold the dough over to form a triangle or pocket shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pockets with beaten egg to achieve a golden color when baked.

Bake: Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.
