Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon ginger, grated

1/2 cup bell pepper, finely diced (red or yellow)

1/2 cup water chestnuts, diced

3 green onions, chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 head of butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Incorporate Vegetables: Add the diced bell pepper and water chestnuts to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until the peppers are slightly softened.

Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and black pepper. Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and stir well to combine.

Simmer: Let the mixture cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld while stirring occasionally.

Prep Lettuce: While the beef mixture is simmering, wash and separate the lettuce leaves. Pat them dry and place them on a serving platter.

Serve: Spoon the warm beef mixture into each lettuce leaf. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro if desired.

Enjoy: Serve immediately while the beef is warm and the lettuce is crisp. Enjoy your delicious, healthy Asian-style ground beef lettuce wraps!
