Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast

2 teaspoons sea salt

1 ½ teaspoons sugar

1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and sea salt until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil.

Form the Dough: Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough starts to come together.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.

Preheat Oven: About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to the highest setting (around 475°F or 250°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

Shape the Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 2-3 equal portions, depending on your desired pizza size.

Form Crusts: Using your hands or a rolling pin, shape each portion into a round crust, about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer to a cornmeal-dusted pizza peel or baking sheet.

Toppings: Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings.

Bake Pizza: Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy.

Cool and Serve: Let the pizza cool for a minute before slicing. Enjoy your homemade artisan pizza!
